Law students tackle a complex issue, gain appreciation for Iowa community

Through the Community Empowerment Law Project (CELP), Iowa Law students worked with the Iowa Initiative for Sustainable Communities and their partnership with the City of Dubuque to collect and synthesize information, and create an action plan to help K-12 Marshallese students improve school attendance.

Third-year law student Jonathan Picado shares about his journey in environmental law and how he plans to address environmental injustices after graduation. Last summer, Jonathan was awarded a Hubbell Environmental Law Fellowship to his support his summer work at the Department of Justice Environment and Natural Resources Division.
